Certificate in Work Based Learning (Postgraduate Medical Education)
The training programme is accredited at Academic Level 3 by Middlesex University under the C.A.T System, and is offered in conjunction with The National Centre for Work Based Learning Partnerships, Middlesex University.
There are five Modules in the Training Programme each of which is based on the work of a Postgraduate Medical Centre:
Each module has a number of elements within it which require discussion of situations and themes as well as researching of fact-based topics, evidence of work that is carried out, systems, policies and procedures that are in place and so on. It is all based on the everyday work of a Postgraduate Medical Centre and much of the evidence asked for is based on systems etc. within your own Postgraduate Medical Centre/Trust. Within each Module there is also a case study for you to discuss.

The Training Programme is aimed at:
On the successful completion of the Training Programme you will be awarded a Certificate in Work Based Leaning.This is valued at 40 credits under the Credit Transfer System (CATS) and is accredited through Middlesex University at Academic Level 3.
The opportunity to do a project and gain another 20 credits which qualifies you for an Advanced Diploma in Work Based Learning. This, in turn, can lead to further opportunities for professional development to obtain a Degree or a Masters Degree.
A total cost of the Training Programme is £1,150 including Registration fee, an induction and fee for assessment of each module. The Induction is normally held in December each year. We have information on how previous students have obtained funding; please contact us for additional information.
We normally expect you to submit a Module (the Programme consists of five modules in total) for each assessment session. As these take place approximately every 6 months you can expect to be working on the Training Programme for 2 to 3 years. With work based distance learning, you can learn to adapt your working patterns to include your study.
It is possible, by submitting more than one module to each assessment session, to complete the training programme in less than two and a half years.
Qualified assessors from NAMEM will assess your work in the first instance. Your work may then be sent to Middlesex University for further ratification. The assessors meet twice a year in April/May and October/November.

There is an ad hoc prize of £150 awarded by the Assessors to the student who submits the best overall programme (all five modules).
